Depalletizer
“The Romeo & Juliet”

Are you looking for a depalletizer? Our new depalletizing system is a fully automatic pallet exchanger that is capable of managing up to 55 pallets per hour thanks to it being equipped with two robotic pallet dispensers.

Depalletizer

Description of Depalletizer

Top Industries’ depalletizer is a fully automatic pallet exchanger system. The only time the operator is required is when the pallets need to be loaded and unloaded in their dedicated pallet dispensers.

This is one of the most compact and fastest depalletizer in our production range. The pallet change  operation takes place by tilting the product, which separates it from the pallet, and then the machine automatically shifts the new pallet under the product. Please discover below the entire pallet exchanging cycle.

If you would like a mobile pallet changer, discover our newly patented “Falcon Wings”, capable of handling bulky, heavy, and fragile products in a very easy and safe way.

Cycle description of depalletizer

This depalletizer can be loaded via pallet truck or forklift. Please read below and discover the pallet changing operation:

Firstly, the depalletizer safely locks the load in order to momentarily tilt it anywhere between 95° to 120°. The degree the depalletizer tilts back to, is based on the type of product being handled. In fact, every load needs to be managed differently
The load is then separated from the pallet, and the depalletizer is now able to swap the origin pallet with the destination pallet in a very easy and fast way.
Lastly, Top Industries’ depalletizer brings back the load with the new pallet into the initial position. At this stage, the operator transports away the load and places a new one inside the machine.

The depalletizing operation is done by two robots that automatically move the arrival pallet into the pallet dispenser. As mentioned, “Romeo & Juliette” works with two pallet dispensers for both destination and arrival pallets with a maximum capacity of 20 each.

Overall, this is one of the most efficient pallet transfer systems in Top Industries’ range. “Romeo & Juliet” is equipped with APS (Automatic Pallet Shift), a new patented technology designed by Toppy in 2022.

What are the challenges in de-palletizing?

One of the biggest challenges in depalletizing is pallet handling for those pallets that have not been palletized properly. If the pallet that you receive was stacked manually, then chances are your product will not be placed in the absolutely picture-perfect square.

This kind of situation can make it more difficult in detecting the precise product location and how the arm effector should position itself to pick it up accurately. This will particularly be true when depalletizing bags.
Usually, the composition of bags can make it difficult for them to maintain the same shape for all bags that are on the line. Only your vision system has to be adapted to identify random pallet patterns and also unevenly placed products.

A palletizer is important tool for warehouses and packaging units as it helps in automating various tasks like handling and storing of goods. It can help in effectively organizing the loads of assorted goods in single loads for cost-effective transportation.

These palletizers are integral in the packaging process, as they can be included strategically to streamline the operations.

• Metal detection
• Counting
• Weighing
• Labelling
• Sorting
• Wrapping

Some of these functions can also be integrated into your palletizing machine itself or can be done by certain separate equipment.
Also, depalletizing applications are quite common in the manufacturing industry. There are several reasons why your products must be taken off from a pallet rather than the other way around, and all need different types of arm deflectors.

Are you trying to depalletize to some other pallet, a conveyor, or a transport vehicle directly? You can use a depalletizer in as many ways as there can be products to depalletize.

Finally, all you want is to make your application to be optimal. where from precisely locating your product on the pallet, to handling it gently throughout the entire process. The right end-of-arm of the tool is going to maximize your operations, and your ROI and payback consequently.

In most cases, the palletized products are managed and stored in specific units or loads, as it allows for systematic organizing and handling. The handling of units brings about more efficiency as they can be managed better when compared to organizing single products.

Finished goods may not be built as per designed for handling and shipping separately. Usually, these are placed in boxes, trays, cases, and crates that are finally combined into a single unit that is supported by pallets or roll cages.

Since products are stacked into a pallet via the palletizer, hence it has been named so. Pallets can be flat, stable structures that can be of plastic, wood, paper, or steel. They may have notches or openings, which can be lifted by forklifts and hand pallet trucks.

Such openings can make a pallet either a 2-way or a 4-way describing forklift entry. Usually, most pallets can manage loads of up to 1 ton within an area of about 1 sq. meter.

Is your product made of paper, plastic, paper, or poly-woven?

The less breathable is the bag, the greater will be the chance of reliably picking it by using a vacuum-type gripper.

If your product allows air leaks, then you need to take in to considerration a fork-type gripper to get a better grasp. That are products that tend to be much more challenging to locate on any pallet.

TopiIndustries palletizer and de-palletizer

TopIndustries can offer a wide selection of high-performance machines both in the field of palletizers and de-palletizers.

No matter how different and varied the fields of application may be, most of these palletizers and de-palletizers are simple to operate. These machines treat all the materials gently and offer the highest level of safety standards.

Whatever may be the focus, whether it can either be adherence to strict hygiene regulations needed in the food and pharmaceutical industry, or any trouble-free operation needed in warehouse and logistics management, these palletizers are used in many different types of industries.

Types of pallets

There are 3 main types of pallets made of plastic, wood and cardboard.

1. The most common pallets are typically 40×48 having notches in the side so it is easy to pick them up from the side.
2. The second type of pallets is also of 40×48 with blocks present on all sides so that they can be picked up from any direction. Such reliable pallets can also be located by a blue paint marking available on its sides.
3. Another new supplier has come out with a pallet that can be identified easily with a red paint marked on the sides of pallets.

Fork trucks having a special attachment can clamp the tab or push the load on or off of the forks. They are used for hygiene and also space savings in transportation.

By removing a pallet can save 5″ of space for each load. This can also add an extra layer or two in the truck and can offer substantial savings.

A few other palletizers also can stack items on a conveying surface or slip sheet. These are called as unitizers. Unitized loads may not need a pallet. In a few others, palletizers and unitizers can be used interchangeably.

There are different patterns of pallet that companies may require.

• A few companies may prefer tier sheets or strange patterns for providing load stability as presently they can move palletized loads manually to a stretch wrapper using a fork truck
• Pallet movement can be very smooth in any automated lines which may allow simplification of the patterns for providing enhanced pallet utilization
• Better pallet utilization will save money throughout their supply chain
• Simplifying palletizing systems can help customers achieve higher speeds and more efficiencies
